*Cedric Yau is a polymathic entrepreneur whose experience has earned him many professional titles – from producer, speculator, philosopher, martial artist, and computer scientist – to the arts as an actor, dancer and singer. Born and raised in Portland, Oregon Yau is an only child whose parents emigrated from the Philippines, bringing an ancestry tracing back to China and the Fujian Province.As a financial database consultant he has worked in this and other professional capacities internationally from San Francisco and Hong Kong to New York City.
As an artistic talent, Yau began an interest in dance after college, learning everything from salsa and swing to Hip Hop. While in Hong Kong, his passion for dance and his global participation in salsa congresses held around the world allowed him to travel and network internationally. As an example of his creative and business dexterity he completed what is regarded as a master’s degree in finance-the Chartered Financial Analyst Program-and passed all 3 Levels, while simultaneously completing the two year acting program at the William Esper Studio, finishing the intensive in a year and a half. Other interest he developed included private study in Kung Fu with Sifu Chen Ying for over 7 years.
As a theatrical producer, Yau’s first forays came with Ken Davenport on the production “My First Time” and as associate producer on Broadway’s “Godspell”. His continued endeavors include the recent successful and acclaimed launch of the Off-Broadway show based on the Jules Verne classic – “Around the World in 80 Days”.
